It is with great pride and immense pleasure that Minthis was chosen as the distinguished venue for the 2024 MED-9 Leaders’ Summit. This momentous event was held for the first time in Cyprus, on the 11th of October, with the nine EU leaders from the MED-9 alliance in attendance.
The MED-9 is an influential group of presidential leaders and heads of state from the Mediterranean and Southern European Union member states: Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain. For the first time, King Abdullah of Jordan and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah participated in the summit, broadening the dialogue and underscoring the importance of the Mediterranean as a geopolitical and cultural bridge. These nations not only form the heart of the Mediterranean basin but are also pivotal members of the European Union and the Eurozone.
The summit commenced with a welcome lunch, hosted by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, at the Amaracus Restaurant at Minthis. The menu consisted of Cypriot dishes, enriched with herbs and spices from the local area offering a true taste of the island’s rich gastronomic heritage. During the meeting discussions centred on the strengthening of the role and cooperation of Mediterranean countries within the EU, while also tackling critical issues affecting all member states.
Cyprus, as the presiding country of the MED9 2024, earned high praise from the European participants for both its leadership and its impeccable organization of the event. We are profoundly honoured that Minthis was selected as the stage for this significant gathering, underscoring our resort’s stature and elegance.
